It is not often that you will have an opportunity to visit an absolutely amazing location that has not already been the subject of thousands of photographers’ best efforts, is free of swarms of tourists, and is conveniently located near some of the most wonderful parts of Italy. On May 8 through 13, 2015 I will be leading a 6 day photography workshop in Matera, Italy – a UNESCO World Heritage site – and to some of the incredible locations in the immediate vicinity of Matera, including another UNESCO World Heritage site, Alberobello.. You will be living in one of the cave dwellings that has been continuously occupied since Neolithic times. Most of that time, the cave has not been a 5 star hotel as it is now.In addition to having the opportunity to visiti one of the most unusual and picturesque cities in the world, you will be guided by Donato Rizzi, a well known artist who was born in Matera and who owns a art gallery in Matera, and by his wife Anne Demay who is a tour guide in Matera. Donato was noted in a recent Smithsonian Magazine article on Matera and his art can be seen on his website. This workshop will be limited to 10 participants. Details are described below. You should sign up immediately to reserve a spot. If you are interested, contact me at robertbushphotography@gmail.com. Of course, feel free to contact me if you would like more information. |

lAlberobello is a UNESCO World Heritage site that is the location of the world famous trulli, the traditional Apulian dry stone huts with conical roofs. |

Venosa is one of the cities founded by the Greek hero Domedes after the Trojan War. Horace was born in Venosa in 65 BC. Remnants of civilizations from the Greeks to the Romans are found here, including Jewish catacombs with inscriptions in Hebrew, Greek and Latin from the 4th and 5th centuries. Craco Vecchio is an Italian ghost town. It was abandoned in 1963 after being continuously inhabited since around the year 540. Because of its unique and particular landscape, it has been the setting of many movies. |
